Boulders, Olmsted Point This print can be ordered securely online at a special discounted price. This print is one of the images from my most recent book, Recollections: Three Decades of Photographs. I have enjoyed this image for many years, and I am most pleased to be able to share it with others in Recollections, and here at my web site as a special collectors edition print offering. These glacial erratic boulders in the Yosemite High Country have fascinated me for years. I have fond memories of playing here at Olmsted Point during our annual family camping trips in Yosemite when I was a youngster. Many years later on an October afternoon I found the sunlight to be doing magical things with these granite boulders. The afternoon sun was reflecting off of a nearby scree slope, filling the shadow side of the boulders with a luminous glow. Using the Zone System, I placed the shadows higher than I might normally have and gave the negative less than normal development. This image interests me because of its strange sense of proportion. The foreground boulder is nearly twelve feet in diameter, yet the Sierra juniper tree near the top of the image is very small. I find it interesting when photographs allow the viewer to participate in discovering a sense of scale within a photograph. As Ansel used to say, “There are two people in every photograph - the photographer and the viewer.”This print is available for a limited time at the very special price of $600. There are very few prints available at this special discounted price, so if your are interested, please act quickly. John’s prints of this size normally retail in galleries for $900, so the savings over the retail price is significant. This print is approximately 10 x 12", personally printed by John (as are all his prints), processed to current archival standards, signed, mounted, and matted to 16x20" on 100 percent rag museum board. Prints will be shipped within ten days of the order date. All prints are carefully prepared and packaged in specially designed protective shipping boxes, and shipped fully insured via UPS ground. Normally
there is a long waiting period for John's
original prints. This
is a rare opportunity to obtain a print with
a short waiting period and at a special discounted
price.
