Join internationally respected photographer
John Sexton for an educational, informative, and entertaining
audio-visual presentation, as he shares his images and insights from
his forty-year photographic career. Known for his elegant, finely
crafted, large format black and white photographs, Sexton has been an
important part of the legendary photographic community on the
Monterey Peninsula since he moved here nearly thirty-five years ago
to accept the position as Photographic Assistant to legendary
photographer Ansel Adams.
An articulate speaker with
a delightful sense of humor and a wealth of photographic expertise,
this presentation will transport viewers “on location,”
as John shows a number of his well-known images. In addition, he will
speak about the amazing photographic heritage on the Monterey
Peninsula, and share images and insights from photographers who
called this spectacular area home, including Ansel Adams, Edward
Weston, Brett Weston, Wynn Bullock, Morley Baer, Henry Gilpin,
Richard Garrod, Robert Byers, Al Weber, and others.
The talk will also include examples and anecdotes drawn from his
six-year close working relationship with Ansel Adams as Adams’
Photographic and Technical Assistant, and Consultant. Images by both
Sexton and Adams will be transformed on the screen from the negative
to the final print, progressing through the various creative steps in
the evolution of an expressive photographic print. Attendees will
gain both information and inspiration from this lively
presentation.
Anne and I look forward to seeing some
old friends, and making a number of new friends in our own
backyard.
John
